About Me: Bits and Bites
I've always loved writing. As a student, I began reporting at the Queen's Journal, the newspaper of Queen's University in Kingston, Ontario. So, it's no coincidence that my character Jack studied there. After graduating, I became a writer and editor with the Kingston Whig-Standard, one of Canada's top newspapers at the time. My love of newspapers is reflected in the novel, with two ambitious women who work at the Honolulu Star-Bulletin.
When I shifted into the international education sector, I was thrilled to have the opportunity to visit Japan and many other countries. I continue to write – now covering the topic for University Affairs magazine and the Professionals in International Education News in London, England. I am the author of a non-fiction book, The World's Campus, which chronicles the impact that international students are having on Canada, for better and for worse.
The Admiral's Daughter is my first novel. I live with my family in Kingston, along with our labrador retriever Stella, who plays a small but vital role in the book.
